As a group we brought together our findings from the different music videos we analysed. The music videos we analysed inclued:
Jake Bugg - Two Fingers
Michael Jackson - Bad
Thirty Seconds To Mars - This Is War
The Staves - Tounge Behind My Teeth
Queen - Invisible Man
Imaginary Friend - Nothing Alone
Britney Spears - Baby One More Time
Paramore - Misery Business
Don Broco - You Wanna Know
Awolnation - Sail
Billy Joel - Uptown Girl
Oasis - Wonderwall
From these videos we found that using a narrative makes it more enjoyable for the viewer and giving the video a film like style can create more of an impact (for example including titles). When there is a relationship between the lyrics and the visuals on screen the video becomes more enjoyable for the audicence as this possibly develops the songs meaning or it can give an entirely new meaning to the song. The use of the Male Gaze theory would help attract more of a male audience. We noticed that the pace of the cuts/shot changes matched the pace of the music itself. Close-ups of the artist performing or acting in the music video are often used as they need to be the main focus of the music video to promote themselves.
