The questions on the questionnaire read : 'How old are you?', 'What is your favorite music video and why?', 'What do you look for in a music video?', 'Do you expect things from certain genres? If so, what are they?', 'Do you enjoy music videos?', 'Do you expect to see the artist in the video?', 'Do you expect a narrative in the music video?', 'Do you expect to see the lyrics relating to what is happening in the video?', 'How many different locations would you expect from a music video?', and finally, 'What do you think makes a good music video?'
As a group we created a questionnaire that would hopefully give us some first hand feedback of what our audience would expect from the video we are going to create. There were a total of ten questionnaires given out to various age ranges. Above you can see a few completed questionnaires.
Once we collected the sheets back we then had to analyse what the results showed. One of the most prominent things found was that many of our participants had no expectations when it came to genre and there was more emphasis on having a good narrative/storyline.
Another common answer was that seeing the artist in the video was expected.

Another thing we asked about was the number of locations the audience expect to see in one video. The average answer was that four was the minimal amount and thirteen was the highest.
From these results we can get a better idea of what the audience want from the video. Because we are thinking about having pop as our genre, it would be best if our lyrics fit with our narrative as this is what the audience want/expect. We should also use at the very least four locations to shoot in with the maximum being thirteen. Our artist should also be present in the video, as the majority of our participants expect to see the artist in their own video.
